Hekla : 1954 Spartan Royal Mansion 34’

This 1950 Spartan was reimagined for a client whose love of adventure is matched by an appreciation for unique woods. Built for year-round travel—from ski trips in the mountains to long summer weekends—the project brings together the character of a vintage trailer, handcrafted interiors, and modern technology.

Our client’s wood collection inspired the interior, where custom lacewood cabinetry and custom-milled wenge flooring take center stage. The distinctive grain of the lacewood brings texture and movement to the cabinetry, while the deep tones of the wenge ground the space. Together, they create a warm, inviting interior that feels personal to its owner.

One of the most significant changes involved the Spartan’s shell. We designed and built a 6" shell lift that increased the interior height by a few inches, creating more headroom and a more comfortable space to move through while preserving the trailer’s recognizable vintage silhouette.

Behind the woodwork is a high-tech setup designed to support adventures throughout the seasons. Solar panels, a substantial battery bank, and an integrated Garmin system bring modern functionality to the build. The result is a distinctive home base for days spent outside—a place to return to after a day on the slopes or settle into after a summer adventure.
